Who we are
Bookish Badger is a trading name. In this document “we”, “us” and “our” mean the person or business named as the seller in the Business details of our Terms of sale, Returns, Privacy notice and Contact us pages, trading as Bookish Badger. Those pages give the seller’s name, geographic address and, where they apply, company and VAT details. Every page gives our email addresses. This page forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of sale.
Where we deliver
We deliver print books wherever our print partner can deliver, currently about 177 countries. We do not deliver to Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba or any other place we cannot deliver to. The list can change as our print partner’s network changes. The basket shows whether we deliver to you: you choose your country there, and it offers only countries we deliver to.
Delivery charges and estimated times depend on the destination and are shown before you pay. EPUBs are not posted. They are sold only in the countries offered at checkout, which do not include the European Union.
Delivery charges
The delivery charge depends on the destination and the number of print books in your order. It is the carrier’s postage plus our print partner’s handling fee for your order, and any destination tax the print partner adds, passed on at cost. We add no mark-up. It is shown in your basket and on the payment page before you pay, and is included in the total. We make no other charge at delivery. For addresses outside the United Kingdom, see Import VAT, duties and fees below.
Where your books are printed
Our print partner prints each book to order and posts it, possibly from a country other than the one you live in. We do not choose or promise the country a parcel is posted from. Because a parcel can cross a border, we treat every delivery outside the United Kingdom as one that may have import charges (see below).
Import VAT, duties and fees
A parcel that is delivered to a different country from the one it is posted from is an import into that country. Its customs authority or the carrier may charge import VAT, customs duties or a handling fee before delivering it. These are not included in our prices or delivery charge, we do not collect them for you, and you, as the recipient, are responsible for them. The amounts and rules depend on your country; your customs authority can tell you more. Customs checks can also delay a parcel.
We show this notice in your basket, on the payment page and in your order confirmation whenever the delivery address is outside the United Kingdom.
How print books are made and sent
Every print book is printed to order by our print partner, which prints and posts it, and then handed to a delivery service. Delivery therefore has three stages: a hold of up to about 24 hours, printing, then transit. The estimated delivery time shown before you pay, or in your Order Confirmation, covers all three.
International deliveries take longer than UK ones, and customs checks can add time. Delivery times are estimates, our best guide, not guaranteed dates. Unless we have agreed a different time with you, we deliver without undue delay and in any event within 30 days after we accept your order.
We hold each order for up to about 24 hours before printing starts, so that it can still be stopped if something is wrong. Until printing starts, you can ask us to cancel the order and we refund you in full, including delivery. If you ask us to correct a mistake, such as the address, we will where we are able to. Once printing has started we cannot stop it. Your rights to cancel and to a remedy for a fault are explained on our Returns, refunds and cancellation page.
An order containing several books may arrive in more than one parcel, each with its own tracking history. One delivered parcel does not mean that the whole order has arrived.
Signed copies
A signed copy is either sent from stock the author holds, or printed and sent to the author first. The author then signs it and posts it to you. This takes longer than an unsigned copy, and the estimated time is shown before you pay. If the author cannot send your copy within that time, we will contact you and you can choose to wait, take an unsigned copy with a refund of the signed-copy amount, or cancel for a full refund.
Signed copies may not be available for every destination. The basket tells you if one cannot be delivered to you.
Tracking your order
Your Order Confirmation contains a private link to your Order Page. It shows confirmed updates only: “preparing to ship” can mean packing or the creation of a shipping label, and “on the way” means the carrier has confirmed it has the parcel. A tracking number or carrier link is shown when the carrier provides one.
Keep your private link to yourself: anyone who has it can see your order. The link stays valid for 30 days. If it has expired, contact us and we will send a new one. An order number on its own will not open your order.
EPUBs
EPUBs are not posted. As soon as your payment is confirmed, each EPUB in your order is available on your Order Page to download, read online or send to your Kindle. Your Order Page shows how many downloads remain and when access ends (normally 10 downloads within 365 days of payment). Please keep a copy of each file you download.
Sending to a Kindle uses Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. Amazon controls device compatibility and how the file is converted.
EPUBs are not available to buyers in the European Union. We check the country of your billing address when you pay.
If your parcel is late
If your parcel has not arrived by the end of the estimated delivery time, please contact us with your order reference. We will check with the printer and carrier and tell you what is happening. If we have not delivered within 30 days of accepting your order (or any other time we agreed), you can ask us to deliver within a further reasonable period, or end the contract where the law allows and receive a refund for the undelivered books and their delivery.
Estimated times are our best guide. Parcels to other countries can be held up by customs for some weeks.
If your parcel is lost
If tracking says your parcel was delivered but you do not have it, please check with neighbours and any safe place the carrier uses, then contact us as soon as you can. Your books are our responsibility until they reach you, so we will investigate with the carrier and send a replacement or give you a refund. Please tell us within 30 days after the end of the estimated delivery time, or after the day tracking says it was delivered. That 30 days is our own promise beyond your legal rights, and it does not shorten them.
If your parcel or books arrive damaged
Please contact us with your order reference and photos of the book and the packaging, and keep the packaging until we have dealt with it. If you tell us within 30 days after delivery, we will send a replacement or give you a refund, and we do not normally ask you to send the damaged book back. If you live in the United Kingdom or the European Union, your legal rights last longer than 30 days. Our Returns, refunds and cancellation page explains your rights for faulty or damaged items.
Wrong or incomplete addresses
Please check your delivery address carefully on the payment page. If a parcel comes back to us because the address was incomplete or incorrect, or it was not collected, we will contact you to arrange redelivery and may ask you to pay the reasonable cost of sending it again. If we cannot reach you within 14 days, or you do not want redelivery, we will refund the price of the books and the standard delivery charge.
