Puppet is a splatterpunk revenge story of a doll that comes to life after witnessing a pedophilic teacher, Missing Teacher, assaulting yet another young boy. At only 80 pages, this one packs a PUNCH. I was literally having to remind myself to breathe, and I gagged at the first sentence. I love a revenge story, especially when the person is genuinely evil and disgusting, which Miss Teacher definitely is. I really can't say more about the book without spoiling it, but please check your trigger warnings if you're curious about it. This one is NOT for anyone who is squeamish, it's absolutely disgusting and the imagery you get from the descriptions of body horror will make you feel sick. In saying that, I'm one of those people/lil freaks that loves when a book an evoke such a reaction, hence why I keep reading splatterpunk. This is the second book in the Dollface series, and I will definitely be continuing it, and I want to check out R.J Powell's other stories.
Hi there! I'm RJ and I live in Dallas, Texas with my fiancé and nine pets. I began my writing journey in the second grade, when I won my first and only award. I started to write extreme horror as a teenager, which resulted in my parents putting me into therapy. From there, I continued to write over the years, eventually taking a hiatus to work as a paralegal for a decade. In my 30s, I published my first book and retired from the workforce to pursue my lifelong passion of becoming an author.
I mainly specialize in extreme horror and splatterpunk, but I also dive into other subgenres of horror—with an exception to sentient smut, of course.
