  • WOW Must Read!

Fairytales for Freaks A collection of very messed up fairytales and not for the faint hearted or weak stomachs. Two Banned Piggies - This was all sorts of wrong but so good. But I don't think I will ever look at my pizza cutter or hot dogs the same way ever again! "Do it, Do it, anyway you can" The Ugly Ducking - I have read this one before and it still holds the same. Reality of someone's life out there. Goldilocks and the three men - Well this one was a little harder to read. As reality is this is happening out there everyday. But thank you for bringing it to light the way you have. Daddy bear and brother bears got everything and more coming to them!! Little Red Riding The Dark Web - This was my first Anne Snow book and the tone that got me hooked on her writing. And I will say I still want more from this book please!! I need more on Ruby and Raptor. Old McDonald had a Cow - Moooo. This was mad! Crazy mad! Mad Cow Disease? I do feel for the 3 farm boys, they were just doing the job they were asked to do. But crawling inside was just all kinds of wrong. There were point where I thought maybe he was walking around wearing Primrose, the eyes the hoofs. But what was the wiggly thing? Hansel and Gretels Cannibal Cafe - Ok who stands with me in this? AI is watching and so do our phones in general. It gave me Mrs Lovett Meat Pies but Sloppy Mike, please remind me never to eat one 🤣. Chatty Patty you naughty naughty software, was Gretels cream not enough for you. Highly highly recommended to all of my splatter fans and anyone willing to try something new! But if you are new, please please if it's not for you do not continue. As it isn't for everyone. All of these stories are Dark, Messed up and not for faint hearted. This is Splatter so enter with extreme caution. And make sure you read the Authors note and warnings! They are there for your mental health.

  • Thank you Anne Snow for giving me an advanced copy of this collection in exchange for a review. This a collection that will make you go “what the f*ck” over and over again. I don’t think I can ever look at certain children stories the same again after reading these. Now I am going to give my personal thoughts for reach story in the collection: Two Banned Piggies: This one hit hard as someone who has self-esteem issues related to their body. The graphic depictions of extreme weight loss gave that nagging part of my brain a good reality check. Eat that greasy chicken girl, you deserve it. 4 stars The Ugly Duckling: I hated myself for feeling an ounce of sympathy for Dylan and Imma say, the ending was very much deserved. The shock of the gore was much needed cause some people like to question “counting or not counting gang violence”. 4 stars Goldilocks and the Three Bears: This is probably my favorite story of the collection. I can’t resist a feminine rage story. I was appalled and satisfied at the same time. Bears for the win. 5 stars Littler Red Riding the Dark Web: My second favorite story of the collection. The drama, the gore, this one has it all. This is if Hostel was a reality TV show. 5 stars. Hansel and Gretel’s Cannibal Cafe: This one falls at last place for my ranking. It just did not hit the same as the other tales. I found the sloppy joe bits fun, but the rest left me feeling meh. 3 stars Old Macdonald had a Cow: I love me some body horror and I got fed with this story. It was so bizarre and left me needing to be cleansed. If I ever get bit by a cow I think I’d rather pass away. 4 stars.

  • I couldn't wait to get the entire book after following the first three individual stories releasing. Reading the entire collection was a delight and this time I also got to read three collection exclusive stories, which are so worth buying this collection for. I honestly think that Anne has created a bundle of gems with this book. She retells and gores up popular children’s stories in her own gruesome and disturbing ways. I think the blood and gore that are abundant in the collection will not be a surprise to some, but what it hides is the touch on major social issues. It takes stands on issues of bullying, abuse, body dysmorphia and the darker sides of the internet that contain some disturbing complexities. If you can look past the murder, mayhem and gore, some of the stories have an emotional and psychological edge to them that was a nice balance. A lot of my favorite moments were breaks of the narrative of the story with sprinkles of dark humour thrown in there too. Some of her opening lines had me giggling. She knows how to make an entrance. Overall, Fairytales for Freaks is exactly the kind of collection I’d recommend to anyone who loves extreme horror, splatterpunk, messed up fairytales and stories that make you sit there afterwards thinking, what did I just read!? It’s gross, it’s disturbing, it’s messed up and it’s funny when you probably shouldn’t be laughing. And underneath all of that, there are some genuinely interesting themes and commentary. Anne absolutely does not miss, and this collection is a fantastic showcase of what she can do. I’ve been eagerly waiting for the complete collection and I already know a physical copy is going to be a prized possession on my bookshelf!

  • Let’s Ruin Your Childhood

Mmmkay here’s the deal. Are you listening? Anne Snow has written something you’re gonna want to read if you’re a fan of childhood stories that have turned into adult trauma. In fact, she’s written 6 somethings that have been smooshed into a collection of deranged, hilarious, disgustingly visceral terror nuggets, including: “The Ugly Duckling” “Goldilocks and the Three Men” “Little Red Riding the Dark Web” “Two Banned Piggies” “Hansel and Gretel’s Cannibal Cafe” “Old Macdonald Had a Cow” Not since Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber have our most beloved fairy tales been flipped so hard on their heads that they have permanent brain damage. These stories include a bullied teenager who takes his rage out on his abusers; a girl who’s been abused and tormented for years; a girl who’s forced to push her harmful desires to the extreme; a couple who will do literally anything for their ideal bodies; siblings who need to get their restaurant on the map; and a farmer who feels more love for his cow Primrose than anyone else. These stories were so much fun in a way that only splatterpunk can be. The amount of top-tier gore and out-of-this-world violent detail is what makes Anne such a creative and unparalleled artist. I implore you to go preorder this gutsy (literally), bursting (literally), bloody (literally) brilliant collection. These stories are not for children or the faint of heart. Good luck and enjoy.

  • Summary & Review: A collection of extreme horror that are not for the faint hearted. These fairytales will change how you look at those from your childhood, with Hansel & Gretal's human meat, Old Mcdonald's love of cows (a bit too loving), an ugly duckling that wants revenge, Ruby the little red who finds exactly what she is looking for on the dark web. Oh, we can't forget the piggies! Poor Goldie, who wants her revenge on those bad bears. This is for the splatterpunk and extreme horror lovers - you won't be disappointed. Anne Snow allowed me to be one of her ARC readers for this book, and I am so grateful. I adore everything I have read by her, and anything she writes I will immediately read. Spooky season would not be without this!

  • Fairytales Gone Horribly Wrong

Okay so I finished all six stories in this collection and somehow every single one managed to be more unhinged than the last. Two Banned Piggies ended up being my favorite of the bunch. The Ozempic obsession premise is so specific and so unhinged, and the extended version adding the extra chapter just made it hit even harder. Disgusting in the best possible way. Hansel and Gretel's Cannibal Cafe is a close second. Gory, disgusting, and short, but it gets surprisingly dark for such a tiny story. What really got me was the AI chatbot conversations. Watching Hansel lean on it more and more was well done, and genuinely disturbing to watch unfold. Old Macdonald surprised me the most. It's a lot more psychologically weird than the rest of the collection, still lots of gore, but somehow more unsettling in a completely different way. Honestly one of my favorites just because it felt like Anne was stretching into different territory. Goldielocks was a great "good for her" revenge story, and Ugly Duckling was a great "good for him" one right alongside it. Both hit that same satisfying feeling of watching someone finally take control after being pushed too far. Little Red Riding The Dark Web was probably the one I wanted more from. The descriptions were so visceral, I could practically smell Ruby's bedroom, and I'll give it credit for that. Still gory and brutal like everything else here, I just wanted more time with Ruby and Raptor than the page count gave me. What I really liked about the collection is that the gore actually has something behind it. Every story is dealing with something different, whether it's diet culture, bullying, misogyny, or the way people can be pushed to a breaking point. Anne isn't subtle about any of it. The gore is the point, but so is what she's saying underneath it. Across all six stories, this collection is consistently disgusting, consistently well written, and somehow finds new ways to be messed up every single time. If you're into extreme horror and splatterpunk, this is an easy recommend.  ⚠️ Please check trigger warnings! ⚠️

  • Not your average Fairytale

All of these stories were so much fun to read. Anne really checked all the boxes with these stories. Puts a nice twist on all our favorite childhood tales. She has such a great ability to write the most fucked up things but still was able to put such strong and meaningful messages in each one. You have weight loss being shoved in your faces everywhere you turn making you think that you shouldn’t love the body you have. The reality of when bullying truly takes someone to the edge. Constantly needing validation and affection and going to the limits to get it. From body dysmorphia, mad cows disease, to real life finical struggles and the way AI and Chat GPT has a hold on the world. This was truly, truly so much fun to read, and i will be recommending this to anyone that has the same twisted mind as me.

  • Fairytales For Freaks is an incredibly disturbing collection of our favourite childhood stories, turned into splatterpunk horrors. There are 6 short stories in total, all under 100 pages each, which makes this whole anthology extremely bingeable. Definitely go into these knowing your limits, because there isn't a single trigger excluded. I will also add the fact that some of these stories were BANNED on Amazon, so proceed with caution! The six stories include: - Two Banned (Little) Piggies - The Ugly Duckling - Goldilocks and The Three Men - Little Red Riding The Dark Web - Hansel And Gretel's Cannibal Cafe - Old Macdonald Had A Cow My favourite was definitely Little Red Riding The Dark Web, Ruby is such a fascinating character. I STILL can't stop thinking about her, and I read that one back in August! Anne Snow has absolutely secured herself as one of the best splatterpunk authors out there.

  • READ THIS COLLECTION!!!

Two Banned Piggies 🐷 This short story is EXCLUSIVE to the collection and its great! A quick and fun read. I love how Anne touched on themes of eating disorders on body dysmorphia in a rotten and grotesque way. Even though the descriptions were horrible, some of them were so out there that they got a chuckle out of me! The Ugly Duckling 🦆 my first thought after finishing was what the f**k! The story follows an ugly duckling who is pushed to edge and takes power back the only way he can think of. Please check your triggers before reading! Goldilocks and the three men 🐻 This story is dedicated to Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplices and it is a very fitting dedication. This story grips you tight from the start and doesn’t let go until the end. I appreciate how Anne was able to describe the atrocities committed by the men in this story without lingering on the details of victimization. Overall, a very powerful story that unfortunately can hit home for many women. Little Red Riding The Dark Web 💻 This was my first time reading Anne Snow’s work and I am HOOKED! Her writing style is descriptive, original, and easy to follow. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and held it all the way to the end, leaving me guessing what would happen next. I highly recommend it to spatterpunk fans and am looking forward to reading her other fairytales. Hansel and Gretel Cannibal Cafe ☕️ This story is also EXCLUSIVE to the collection and I LOVED this story! It’s full of hilarious dark humor and makes fun of modern issues in a twisted way that isnt too far from reality. It's disgusting but it's so good! There have been different versions of this classic over time but this is by far my favorite. Old MacDonald Had a Cow 🐮 This story is the 3rd EXCLUSIVE story and it is incredible! Hands’down my favorite story in the collection. It went in a direction I never would've expected and I loved every second of it. I am just blown away by this story. Definitely cements Anne as one of my favorite authors. The descriptions, pace, and concept is perfect!
